All featured motors are liquid cooled AC induction (BRUSA HSM6.17.12 is hybrid) machines designed specifically for use in electric vehicles and to work with matching power inverters. The rated (1 hr) power ranges from 3.5 kW to 67 kW. All models will handle higher (2x...4x depending on the duration) peak power, often limited only by the inverter.

Induction motors have built in shaft speed and position sensor, interfaced to the power inverter. The shaft RPM signal is available from the inverter's interface to the dash panel in the form of either variable frequency square wave to drive stock tachometer, or binary encoded if digital RPM display is preferred. Motors may come with different shaft and front flange options.

Siemens AC motors are high voltage models meant to be run by inverters with standard electric bus DC input voltage of 650VDC. If a Siemens motor purchased by itself, make sure you have matching inverter to run it with.

MES motors with <24 kW reted power can be ordered with or without fixed single gear reduction box. Optionally motors have mechanical or electronic output for speedometer and integrated parking brake.

BRUSA HSM6.17.12 hybrid motor is special type; its design and characteristics are blend of induction and synchronous motors - they feature squirrel cage rotor as for ASM6.17.12 motor with embedded rare earth permanent magnets. This allows to combine advantages of induction motors at lower RPM and synchronous machines at higher RPM. Distinctive advantage of such hybrid motor is nearly constant power curve at constant power region up to the top RPM unlike noticeable fall off for induction motor.

The MES 200-75 through MES200-150 motors can be supplied with or without Carraro gearbox which contains single 8.654:1 reduction gear and differential ready to be linked to the half-shafts of a vehicle. The rated power Carraro gear box can handle is 30kW, therefore higher power motors (200-175 and above) cannot be used with this gear box.

MES 200-330W motor is special - it comes with smooth keyed shaft designed by MMC and meant to couple with transmission using standard taper lock QD bushing p/n 117393 (Dodge catalog). Also the front flange of this motor is made of iron rather than aluminum for 200-75 through 200-250 motors.

1 All specifications for Siemens motors are based on coolant flow rate of 8 liters per minute (2.11 GPM) and a maximum motor coolant inlet temperature of 55°C (131°F). For guaranteed minimum lifetime of 5000 h, the maximum permissible winding temperature is 175°C (347°F).

Specifications for BRUSA motor are based on coolant flow rate of 5 liters per minute (1.32 GPM) and a maximum motor coolant inlet temperature of 65°C (149°F).
