AC power inverter will
take your traction battery DC power and convert it to the three phase AC power for drive
induction motor. In these AC inverters required output are constantly calculated based
upon the accelerator pedal potentiometer position (power demand), signal from the motor
shaft rotation speed and direction sensor (built into the motor), and signal from optional
brake potentiometer. All inverters featured on this site are liquid cooled, provide regenerative braking recuperating energy back to the traction battery. The output power stage is implemented with IGBTs (Insulated Gate Bipolar Transistors) - either discrete for older designs or as highly integrated modules with thermal management and driver built in. Currently one EVISOL model, two Siemens models, two MES-DEA models and several BRUSA models are offered. EVISOL: flagship EVI-200 model. Includes separate main contactors, connectors and wire harness. MES-DEA: TIM series (TIM-300, 400 and 600 which are 30kW, 50 kW and 100kW peak respectively) BRUSA: DMC series - high voltage inverters with most sophisticated control and different power options. Inverters can be supplemented with
reliable special TPS (throttle position sensor) designed to work in such application
manufactured by Wabash technologies (sold separately). Sensor has redundant elements,
integrated switches and return spring, and meant to be installed directly in the
accelerator pedal assembly. Communication for inverter programming is implemented via
RS-232C interface. All inverters except EVI-200 meant to work with respective manufacturer's motors only. |
