Ah counter

Amp-hours (Ah) counter is a "fuel" gauge for an EV. Stand alone, it will track Ah balance, Wh consumed during driving as well as Ah and Wh put back into the battery during charging and regenerative braking. In conjunction with BRUSA charger Ah meter can control the charger to replenish traction battery pack with exact amount of Ah consumed since last full charge.

An Ah meter consists of two modules (shown without case on photo 1photo 2 ) featuring backlit LCD display, inputs for battery temp sensors and external control buttons, and active shunt with conversion PCB mounted on it. Other than displaying current Ah or Wh totals, counters can display main and auxiliary battery voltages, currents and battery temperature via multiple sensors. One or two separate traction battery packs can be tracked simultaneously.

Programmable models can also drive analog (with scale and pointer) meters calibrated in remaining or consumed Ah or Wh. Some users prefer analog readout considering it easier to read than digital value off the LCD screen - glancing on the scale and judging the value by the pointer position relative to full scale is quicker than analyzing Ah value, this is similar to a traditional fuel gauge.

Offered standard shunts are 20 A, 50 A, 100 A,  200 A or 500 A; other rating shunts can be manufactured to order. The shunt output is 60 mV. The max current measured is 2.5 times of the shunt rating, i.e. for instance 200 A rated shunt allows 0...500 A current measurements.

Units come with data cable linking measuring and display unit, optional case, and printed manual.

Different models loaded with different options are available. Manufactured by BRUSA in Switzerland - one of the highest regarded manufacturers of high quality EV components. One year warranty.
